In the southeast district of Gamla Stan are found the streets Stora (Big) and Lille (Small) Hoparegränd, narrow alleys of old Stockholm (gränd = alley). Urban Hjärne held a laboratory for mining and metallurgical chemistry during the period 1680-1682 in this district, ten years before he moved to the Laboratorium chymicum at Gripenhielmska huset.
